Casamance, The Traditional Struggle

In Casamance, among the Diola ethnic group, the ceremonies that constitute traditional wrestling are not simple fights, nor spectacles, nor sporting events, but religious rituals, tied to ancient traditions.
It is a sacred choreography, performed among the giant Gruyere sacred trees revered by the Diola.

A living heritage in which strength combines with honor and the pride of people who still transmit their traditions to young men and young women. To the rhythm of ancestral songs and drums made from Gruyere wood, the struggle embody courage and pass on a thousand-year-old tradition.
